According to the standards taught in secretarial schools in the mid-20th century, a business letter was supposed to have no mistakes and no visible corrections… This seems like a no-brainer, but keeping in mind that their backspace key wasn’t quite as efficient as ours is today, you can imagine how stressful that must have been for the ladies clack clacking away – especially at the end of the note!
